Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra)

$50.00

One year old seedling in a pot.

Origin: Specimen mother trees in Royal Oak, Michigan

Why you should plant: One of the best overall oaks in my opinion. Should be the state tree. Adaptable to fairly wet/dry but will grow best in medium soils. Long-lived. Over 500 species of butterflies and moths rely on NRO. Maybe the fastest growing native oak. Acorns are the best suited for human consumption out of the oak species in Michigan.

Full Sun but will tolerate part shade in its youth.

60-75ft Height in urban areas, up to 100+ in forest conditions. 50-70ft spread

Pick up in Ann Arbor by appointment but if there are enough orders elsewhere we may distribute closer by. We will reach out to you after you order. You can also pay in cash and place your order over email PerennialGoldLLC@gmail.com

Imagine the full grown tree when planting. Place away from homes/power lines. Protect from deer and small mammals! We are happy to give planting advice if you have questions, or want recommendations on what species to choose for your context.
